Buy from 80sTees.comThis exclusive Anchorman t-shirt brings us back to the scene where Ron Burgundy is walking down a sidewalk with a carton of milk on a hot day. As he walks he mutters to himself, "It's so damn hot. Milk was a bad choice". The movie logo is printed on the left sleeve. "Anchorman: Legend of Ron Burgundy" is one of those films that gets better with each beer consumed, and has some of the most quotable, stomach-clutchingly funny lines ever uttered in any film ever made ("Uggghhh - it smells like bigfoot's dick!") My favorite online clothing store, 80sTees.com, has created some kick-ass shirts based off of this film, and they were kind enough to send us 2 of them to try on, model around, and review on the mighty DVDschlock.com. The first is a very funky, retro-styled brown shirt, with an illustration of spilled milk, and the classic quote: "It's so damn hot. Milk was a bad choice." Funny, cool, and eye-catching. Just like me. The second is a nice, clean, double-sided white t-shirt, with the station call letters on the front (KVWN), and the "Panda Watch: Day 46" graphic on the back. Hilarious. How do they look?Freakin' fantastic. The shade of brown used on the "milk" shirt is unique and will stand out in your closet and on the street, and the double-sided white "station" shirt pops with color. How do they feel? Both shirts are made of light material that stretches and breathes, so even on a hot day you're comfortable, and damn cool looking. Closing Thoughts Love the shirts, love 80sTees.com - who doesn't want cool shirts of their very own? Head on over to their site and peruse the offerings! |

review: 80sTees.com "Ivan Drago" costume
Buy from 80sTees.comThis Boxing costume is the same as what Ivan Drago wore into the ring in Rocky IV. The sickle and hammer from the former Soviet flag are silk screened on the left leg of the shorts and on the back of the jacket. "Drago" is printed across the left side of the jacket. The jacket and shorts are each composed of 100% polyester with elastic bands. The jacket is OSFM and will fit most adults. I still remember my dad taking myself and my buddy Andrew to the movies to see "Rocky IV" as a wee lad... and ever since, I've had a fascination and fixation with the mighty Dolph Lundgren - while he may not have ever again soared as high as he did in that film, I love (and own) every single one of his straight-to-DVD action spectaculars. However, for me, and for the majority of people, he will forever be linked to the character of Ivan Drago. So, lo & behold, the fine folks @ 80s Tees.com have now come out with an Ivan Drago costume!! That's right folks - now you can pretend you are an anabolically-enhanced Soviet super soldier and re-enact the beatdown of one Mr. Apollo Creed! Consisting of a jacket & pair of shorts, both smooth polyester in Soviet red & gold (with hammer & sickle, natch), this is a great looking costume, one in which I find myself wearing around the house a little too often now (despite the pleas of my wife to stop wearing it all the time.) How does it look? Bad-ass! While I could never pretend to have anywhere near the amazing build of Mr. Lundgren as "Ivan Drago," I got to at least put on the clothing and try to play the part, and damnit, I felt tougher! How do they feel? Very light and comfortable - they're shiny & slick, just how I always imagined boxing outfits to feel. However, after a few minutes of dancing around uttering "I must break you" to the mirror, I did feel a bit hot... probably why boxers don't wear jackets while boxing. Closing Thoughts Very cool costume of a very cool character from a very cool film = bad-ass!! |

Long before "Seinfeld" and his now-infamous racist rant onstage, Michael Richards played a defining role in shaping my own personal, bizarre comedic bent. Check him out in these hilarious clips from 2 of my fave movies of all time: "Transylvania 6-5000" and "UHF"!! Labels: fun stuff |

interview: EMO PHILIPS
I still remember the first time I saw Emo Philips on TV, doing stand up on one of the late night talk shows, and his incredibly unique style of humor, and uber-dead-pan delivery style, endeared him to me and absolutely shaped my (wacky) sense of humor. I was happy as a pig in you-know-what to pick up a copy of his performance at the Hasty Pudding Theater on VHS, and his performance as the hapless shop teacher in Weird Al's "UHF" cemented him as a comedy god in my eyes. Thanks to the magic of the interweb, I was able to make contact with my comedy hero and he was gracious enough to answer a few questions for you Schlockites: Where are you answering these questions from? Well, the funny answer would be, "From California." That should tell you just how unfunny all the other answers I thought of were. How is the tour going thus far? I love being on the road! Of course, I don't have a wife or kids at home... so I'm not getting the full pleasure out of it. Describe the typical Emophiliac... Think super-model, secret agent.... I can't remember whether it was "UHF" or your "Hasty Pudding Theater" VHS that introduced me to all that is beautiful in this world (re: Emo), but which would you say had a bigger impact on your popularity? Equal? At the time, both projects turbo-charged my popularity with equal vigor... but since it is now hard to find my Hasty Pudding Theater special (although there is a Chinese DVD of it floating around on eBay), in the past few years far more of my younger fans have been introduced to me through my cameo as the shop-teacher in UHF. (And I am especially grateful that UHF is now out on DVD, as the DVD features me in footage far too graphic and disturbing -- as don't forget, the film was pre-Tarantino -- for the original release.) I've been very impressed with how friendly and responsive you are to emails over the years (having written you many times and always received nothing but enthusiastic responses) - do you enjoy how technology lets you connect with your fans? A plus and a minus, perhaps? In the old days, fan mail involved stamps and envelopes. E-mail has made it quicker and easier... but something is missing. I think it's the saliva. Somehow, in a very subtle but very real way, the exchanging of dried saliva bonded us with each other. Let's hope, for the good of humanity, that some bright scientist and/ or engineer invents a way to bring it back into the communication process. What would it take to get you to come to northern California and film a role (as big of one as you want) in a no-budget, indie z-movie possibly involving kung-fu zombies and/or sasquatch ninjas? Thanks very much for the offer... but I try to steer clear of documentaries. Thank you so much for agreeing to do this, and for being a consistently funny entertainer for many, many years! You are a treasure, sir... Thank YOU! There's no doubt about it: Emo is a one-of-a-kind, true comedic genius, and the fact that he is so approachable and open to his fans speaks volumes about the man. It's exciting that he's still out there, spreading the love Emo-style, and in fact he has a new role to play: the voice of Dooper, the homeless cat (it is my way of "putting something back") on Slacker Cats, an animated TV show which airs every Monday night at 10/9c on ABC Family. Emo made a point of mentioning that, "In these trying and perilous times, I am especially proud of an important feature on the site called Dooper's Conspiracy Corner." - so be sure to check it out! For even more Emo, be sure to check out his official web site @ www.EmoPhilips.com! ![]() Labels: fun stuff |

review: 80sTees "Transformers" t-shirts
Buy from 80sTees.comHeroic Autobots t-shirt -- Let this Transformers t-shirt transform you into an Autobot. The shirt is navy and is composed of 100% cotton. Transformers Decepticon symbol t-shirt -- Transform yourself with this Transformers Decepticon symbol t-shirt! The black shirt is made from 100% pre-shrunk cotton. I've been a huge fan of 80sTees.com ever since I ordered my Ivan Drago "I Must Break You" shirt (which has been quite the conversation starter, let me tell you!) When they wrote to offer up some of their new "Transformers" t-shirts for review, just in time for the big-screen "Transformers" flick, I was very stoked, and replied with an exuberant "Heck yeah!" ![]() My 2 articles of geekdom arrived Friday and I was pumped - opened up the padded envelope to be greeted by a very cool, 80s-vibe Autobot shirt, and the ass-kicking black Decepticon companion. First thing my wife asked me was, "Don't you already have that black one?" to which I replied (in probably too snarky a voice), "No, no, that shirt has the Decepticon logo encircled by the G.I.Joe Cobra logo, silly!" (c'mon now!) How do they look? Both very, very cool - they have the whole nostalgic vibe going on, but look clean & fresh, making it clear that these are not shirts found at the bottom of a thrift store pile - they're 21st century Transformers shirts baby - rock 'em! How do they feel? Light, comfortable, durable - they're not paper thin, but they're not starchy or uncomfortable either... just poifect! Cool Test Wore both shirts this weekend - Autobot on Saturday, Decepticon on Sunday - and have to give the nod to the dark side... black shirt w/ bad-ass logo just seems to be that much more badass! Closing Thoughts Great shirts + cool designs = highly recommended to you t-shirt geeks out there! |
