IFC Films // Buy from Amazon.comSketch Comedy Show with Cult following! Brilliant comedy masters Trevor Moore and Zach Kregger lead their sketch comedy troupe from New York City into hilarious skits, parodies, and satires. From the irony of everyday life to gut-busting jabs at history, The Whitest Kids You Know poke fun at every stereotype, leaving no subject to delicate for a good laugh! I have no idea how I originally stumbled across this show, but undoubtedly I was scrolling through the Comcast channel guide, saw the interestingly-named title, and clicked over to check it out... I'm a sucker for good sketch comedy, especially comedy that is more than a little bizarre or envelope-pushing (both of which "Whitest Kids" most definitely is.") The show has a real "do it yourself" feel that adds more authenticity to it, and somehow makes it seem that much more enjoyable to me - this isn't some slick Hollywood production, but could be produced in a local cable access studio with some guys you know from the local bar. Their brand of comedy is reminiscent of some other "Kids" comedy troupe you might've heard of, but in no way, shape or form do they bite off those hallway inhabitants - if anything, they serve as an inspiration, and then the Whitest Kids take it off down their own direction, or hallway, if you will. I really enjoyed these 10 episodes, and will now be setting my DVR to record season 2 as it airs - you've probably never heard of this show, but it's hilarious, and well worth checking out on DVD. Enjoy the new season 2 of the Kids every Sunday night at 11PM on IFC. Video Each episode is presented in its original fullscreen aspect ratio, and it's a mixed bag as far as quality (due to the various sources and locations.) All in all, very watchable and just ducky. Audio Standard fare Dolby 2.0 stereo mix delivers the dialogue dictation dependably. Extras Closing Thoughts Is good, is funny, is extras included, i like. Labels: review |
