review: EDWARD SCISSORHANDS (Blu-ray)

What is it about combining the talents of Tim Burton and Johnny Depp that create such remarkable cinematic experiences? While films such as "Ed Wood" and "Sleepy Hollow" are fantastic films, "Edward Scissorhands" is probably the all-around best example of both of these titans of Hollywood coming together to create something truly breathtaking. While on the surface a strange and bizarre story, this is actually a moving dramatic tale of love & acceptance, mixed together with a hyper-stylized depiction of reality (as can be found in every Tim Burton film.) The end result is one that will tug at your heartstrings and make you feel emotion for a strange, and strangely loveable, scissor-handed manchild. What an incredible film, an incredible story, an incredible journey. Johnny Depp is at his best here, at once both strange and endearing as only he can be. This film is absolutely a modern-day masterpiece.
